Christophe Mignon has six hectares in and around the village of Festigny, in the Marne Valley. The majority of his time is spent out in the vineyards, mostly planted to Pinot Meunier. Formerly a member of the ‘Groupe des jeunes viticulteurs de Champagne’, Christophe Mignon follows its charter, launched in 1997, which pledged to reduce the amount of herbicides, pesticides and chemical fertilisers in the soil. With respect for the environment, and working to the highest standards, Christophe Mignon works closely in chime with the Lunar Calendar, using biodynamic preparations and natural fertilisers before applying his wine making knowledge in the cellars. This commitment and know-how is reflected in the high quality of his champagnes.
You may be interested to know that the Mignons now have accommodation to rent in the heart of the vineyard area. This is an extaordinary place in which to spend a few days. Within half an hour's drive of Epernay and the Cote de Blancs, or three quarter's of an hour from the Montagne de Reims, there is so much to see and do, and the warmth of the welcome from Christophe and his wife Laurence make this a must do for the avid champagne lover.
