OUR CUSTOMERS SAY.....
"When you are offering top quality cuisine, it has to be complimented by top quality wines. We like Henry George Wines because they offer good champagnes at competitive prices, and above all it comes direct from the grower which means that you won't find it in the supermarket."
Steve and Fabien, In Vino Veritas, Brighton.
Bathed in Mediterranean sunlight at a height of 750 meters above sea level, in the stunning mountains of the Sierra de Gador, is the little village of Enix.
Located in the province of Almería, the visitor to Enix will still discover the winding alleys, whitewashed houses, gnarly trees and traces of a medieval past. Enix exists solely because a natural spring provided water which made it possible for the area to become both habitable and suitable for the growing of vines and the production of wine. Although vineyards have been historically established around the region for hundreds of years, the terrain was never easily managed and early vineyard owners found growing and production challenging and it had virtually sunk into oblivion.
It was only after considerable research into the ideal terrain, with exactly the right micro climate – warm sun and cool breezes due to the height above sea level and the abundance of fresh natural spring water that planting was undertaken. There were also considerable
challenges in the construction of the vineyard – no doubt similar to those of the early growers in the region – but in 1995 Finca Anfora was established and the first vines were planted which now produce the award winning wines branded as Vega Enix which literally translated means “Brightest Star of Enix”
However, the early growers seemed to know a good spot when they saw one and “Brightest Star” seems to be as good as the name would suggest as 16 years into production, the list of award winning wines produced from this vineyard is staggering. Since first entering competition in 1999 just four years after planting, the wines entered into competition have medalled on 14 occasions across a wide range of international events and also received “Highly Commended” on numerous occasions also across the range of brands and grape varieties.
We are delighted in association with Henry George Wines to be able to bring you a selection of these acclaimed award winning wines and in conjunction with the award winning Champagnes which Henry George is known for, we hope to bring you the highest quality wine drinking experiences.
