Francoise Bedel Champagne
Working biodynamically since 1998, Francoise Bedel and her son Vincent Desaubeau, from Crouttes-sur-Marne, an hour from Paris on the banks of the Marne, make truly remarkable champagnes.
When we first visited the estate, back in 2006, we met Madame Bedel, who was in charge of winemaking at that time, and she gave us a very rigorous once over before deciding that we were candidates suitable to distribute her wines.
Vincent has now taken over the reins at the estate, and he continues to make stunning champagnes from the Pinot Meunier dominated vineyards (78%) at his disposal. Here, long lees ageing, sometimes up to ten years, produces full-bodied champagnes with strong personality.
